Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Navigate to User Settings > My Account and enable two-factor authentication:

Add notes to known contacts

Add notes for mods or other users which you interact with frequently and who might have a legitimate reason to DM you or add you to private chatgroups. This helps when a scammer attempts to impersonate the mod/user and DM you - check the notes to see if this is someone you are willing to interact with. When doing this, be careful to get the user's profile from a channel/server where they are verifiably them.

You can do this by clicking on a user's profile picture and updating the NOTE section:

By extension: note the user's internal Discord ID

Ideally, get the user's internal Discord ID and paste it in their note too/save it somewhere. This is especially important if you are dealing with any NFT escrow services which some mods provide. Retrieving the user's Discord ID requires Developer Mode to be turned on. When enabled, right clicking on a user should reveal a Copy ID button which you can use to get the user's Discord ID:

Prevent server members from sending DMs by default

Navigate to User Settings > Privacy & Safety and disable this configuration:

Enable Developer Mode

Navigate to User Settings > Advanced and enable this configuration:
